Here you will learn all about the water channels, and you will be able to appreciate a spectacular view of the La Verónica glacier. Then, we will go to Wilkarakay and visit the magical archaeological site of Llactapata, whose stone walls peek out from the lush vegetation on the other side of the Urubamba River. We will continue for another 30 minutes to reach our lunch spot in Tarayoc. You will be amazed at the delicacies that our chef has prepared in the middle of the mountains!
This afternoon, you will continue hiking for another three hours to reach our first campsite at Huayllabamba (3,000 m/9,840ft). The night sky in the mountains is truly an amazing sight to behold.
The most challenging day is today, but a beautiful reward awaits you!

It is very important to be well acclimatized to the altitude before exerting yourself on a hike. We recommend that you arrive in Cusco at least 2 or 3 days before the trek begins to help you acclimatize and avoid possible problems with altitude sickness during the trek.
Suppose you have already been to another area of Peru at a high altitude before arriving in Cusco. In that case, we still recommend that you have a full day in Cusco to rest, recover from your trip and fully enjoy your trek and have a unique experience.
Yes! You must bring your original passport and it is very important that it is the same passport that you sent us to reserve your 4-day permit for the Inca Trail. Your passport will be checked at 3 checkpoints on the Inca Trail, Machu Picchu, and when you board the train.
Unfortunately, it is not possible. The Peruvian government does not allow us to change once the 4-day Classic Inca Trail permits have been purchased. Inca Trail permits are not transferable or refundable. The only information the government allows us to change is passport numbers.
If you are renewing your passport, please go ahead and email us a copy of your old passport to reserve your 4-day permits for the Inca Trail. If you no longer have your old passport, any government-issued ID will be accepted, as long as the name is the same. Once you receive your new passport. Email us a copy of your new passport as soon as possible to change your permit information. infoperutrek@gmail.com
In the event that you cannot finish the trek for health reasons, PERU TREK will help you get to the nearest city to help you with transportation. We always carry oxygen on our walks for any respiratory problems. There are no refunds in the unlikely situation that you are unable to finish the hike.

Of course! During the trip, your main luggage can be stored in our office (you can coordinate during the day of the briefing or by email) or at your hotel, both for free.
Any equipment you don’t need on the trek can be safely stored at your hotel. Almost all hotels will offer this service. Do not leave valuables with your bags, put them in the hotel safe and get an itemized receipt (in the unlikely event of theft, many insurance companies require you to have a copy of the receipt with all items). It’s best to put items like credit cards in a sealed and signed envelope for added peace of mind.
Group tours are made up of different types of people. Physical conditions and ages can vary. By agreeing to be part of a group tour, you also agree that some people may be faster or slower than you. Therefore, everyone can go at their own pace on the route. It may be the case that a group wants to modify the route; however, it will be the guide who decides, after consulting with all the participants, if such modifications can be made.
Strikes and demonstrations are often frequent in Peru, and this can interrupt some of our planned tours. They can block the roads and take control of the railroad tracks. However, we will try to keep your tour as planned, even if it means leaving the night before your scheduled date. In these circumstances, tours can also be canceled. In case of changes or cancellations, all situations will be coordinated with you by our operations department. Your safety is our top priority and decisions will be made appropriately.
You are responsible for your personal belongings during the Inca trail to Machu Picchu 4 days. Please pay attention to where you leave your belongings and remember to take everything once you leave your bus, tents, and restaurants.
Here are some other options that will suit your needs
The most rewarding way to visit this wonder of the world. The hard work of the cooks and porters takes all the worry out of an already challenging but memorable trip. Our guide Abel had a great character and knowledge which made the experience unique. I would also like to thank Peru Trek for the great logistics in the organization.
I did the 4 day 3 night Inca Trail hike with my partner. It was amazing. I was a little nervous at first because it was several days of hiking, but the guides were very helpful and made me feel at ease. Pablo and Rafael were amazing, they always made sure everyone was well taken care of and gave us lots of information. We visited many Inca sites along the way. They really helped us stay positive and energetic.
They were so fun and caring, our group became like a little family.

It was an absolutely amazing experience! Despite the weather, which didn’t help, the group was amazing and the guidance, information and entertainment provided by our guides Edgar and Juan was exceptional. It was so special to learn about this amazing culture and history from native guides who were clearly very proud of their heritage and privileged to be able to share it with others. The food was beyond anything I could have imagined – we ate like kings! They truly became part of the family by the end of the week – this entire operation literally rests on their shoulders and it is because of their dedication and hard work that this is all possible. This was a once in a lifetime experience and one I won’t soon forget!
I used PERU TREK for the 4 days/3 nights Inca Trail trek. Our main guide, Isaacc, was extremely knowledgable, funny, and friendly. His positive attitude kept everyone going through the tough day (Day 2) and through a few bouts of rain. The chefs do an amazing job with the food (multi-course meals, including donuts and a mountaintop pie!) and are very considerate of any allergies or food restrictions. The doormen are all amazing, they fix everything so you barely have to think. Overall the trip was very well organized and trouble free. The hike itself was an amazing experience, with beautiful views and unforgettable sites. We also did the Huayna Picchu bonus hike, which was beautiful (but a bit scary if you’re afraid of heights). I highly recommend booking with PERU TREK.
